Three Reasons Installers Reach for an Offset Linear Drain

Joist in the way: When a floor joist sits directly beneath the drain location, building codes and structural requirements can limit where and how it may be cut, notched, or drilled. This offset outlet linear drain positions the connection 2.8" from the drain end instead of centered, so the waste line connects at a point clear of the joist, rather than needing to pass directly through where the joist sits.

Slab-on-grade construction: Showers built over 4 inches or more of poured concrete present a real challenge when the existing plumbing doesn't line up with a standard center outlet. Relocating drain plumbing in a concrete slab means breaking concrete, extensive demolition, and added labor cost. If your existing rough-in falls within the drain's offset range, you can connect directly to it, potentially avoiding slab-cutting or coring.

Existing off-center outlet: Older bathrooms, previous remodels, and existing rough-ins don't always have plumbing centered beneath the shower. This offset outlet linear drain is built to match plumbing that's already positioned off-center, so you can work with the existing waste pipe instead of relocating it, saving time, labor, and remodeling cost.
