The Invisible Design: Tile Insert Explained
A Tile Insert Linear Drain, or Invisible Drain, is a specialized solution featuring a recessed tray designed to hold a piece of the surrounding shower tile. This creates a seamless, hidden aesthetic where water disappears into a narrow perimeter gap around the insert. It provides highly efficient drainage while completely blending into the shower floor, perfect for modern, minimalist designs.
Our Anodized Aluminum construction ensures the tray is lightweight and rustproof, while maintaining the precision-set depth required for the inserted tile to sit perfectly flush with the adjacent floor.
Maintenance: The tile insert tray is designed to be easily removable for simple cleaning access to the drain channel.

Cutting Instructions and Installation
If you need to order a custom linear drain length that exceeds 96 inches (8 ft), multiple shorter drains will be shipped and joined together with Lauxes Joiners during installation. These sections can be easily cut onsite to achieve the exact length you need.
- For easy cutting of Custom grates, we recommend using a compound miter saw fitted with a multi-material cutting blade (80 teeth or more).
- We also recommend using a Custom TCT hole saw to drill the hole for the waste outlet.
- Cut the bottom tray 1/8" (3 mm) shorter than the desired length to allow the end caps to be fitted.
- Cut the top grate 1/32" (1 mm) shorter than the bottom tray for easy roll-in and a tidy fit.
- Using the appropriate Custom hole saw for your waste outlet, drill the hole in the required position to align with the waste pipe in the floor.
- Insert the end caps into the bottom tray and secure them with a bead of silicone on the outside of the tray.
- Apply silicone around the lip of the waste outlet and secure it to the underside of the bottom tray at the drilled hole.
* During installation, use a template to ensure the grate does not come in contact with any wet cement-based products.
** Regular, gentle cleaning with soapy water is recommended. Do not use abrasive cloths or acidic chemicals on the grates.
*** When gluing tile, use a neutral-cure silicone.

All Custom Grates and accessories hold UPC Certification.
Damages resulting from improper, insufficient, or negligent care, or from installation not in accordance with AS/NZS 3500.2 or the manufacturer’s specifications, will void the warranty. If at any time the product develops a defect, Custom Grates agrees to correct the defect(s) at no charge to the registered purchaser. This guarantee does not cover repairs necessitated by normal wear, misuse, accidental damage, or changes in temperature.
Note: Custom Grates products do not form part of the waterproofing.
